The Angels are Still Showing Faint Signs of Life
As of today the Angels are 9 1/2 games behind the Texas Rangers in the American League West. The plan is simple; sweep all the remaining games against Texas and hope that the team somehow wins three more games than the Rangers. The Angels can still make the playoffs since they haven’t been mathematically eliminated.
A lot of Angels’ fans were ecstatic because of the Brian Fuentes trade, I am one of them. These same fans are starting to question this trade because of the inconsistency of Fernando Rodney. I urge Angels’ fans not to panic. Fernando Rodney at his worst is still better than Brian Fuentes at his best. Even if we don’t make the playoffs, which now that looks like a very real possibility, the Angels have a lot to look forward to. First, they will be celebrating their 50th anniversary as a franchise. Second, there is a very real possibility that they may sign Carl Crawford, he would not only boost our offense, but he would also allow the Angels to go back to the formula of pressuring opponents on the base paths.
The Angels have a lot to look forward to, though we can not make the playoffs every year the Angels have very stable ownership. That is willing to lay the foundation to build a championship team. The Angels are going to have a very active off-season, regardless of whether they make a splash during the winter meetings, the free-agent signing period, or a blockbuster trade, look for the Angels to make some noise.
Well Angels’ fans, happy 50th anniversary since the official celebration will start on Friday, Intel than let’s hope for the best, do our best, and prepare to reload when the time comes. I’m all right with the Angels not making the playoffs as long as they leave all they have out on the field, in an attempt to shock the world. Go Angels!
